Sling Shot

A simple project that I felt was missing from my island experience. On a trip to California visiting family I was faced with such immense displeasure with nothing to do. During a walk in the woods searching for my father’s previously hidden home, my eyes spied a beautifully colored fork on a downed branch. Grasped with a new mission I grabbed the stick and marched to the car. The 4 hour car ride back to their house was a painful one, the quite literal pain of the branch sticking me in the side, and the pain of patience having to wait till I get to their house so I don’t “fill their car with wood shavings.” I filled their garage instead. . . Shaping this wood took hours with a very dull carpet knife and a rasp that more closely resembled a cheese grater than rasp in function.
